About Me
Rachel Zong
Born into a musical family, I began my piano studies at age 7 . I received over 10 years of formal Conservatory training in piano performance, culminating in a university degree in piano performance at the Central Conservatory of Music.
I'm a member of British Columbia Registered Music Teachers' Association (BCRMTA) and the Candian Federation of Music Teachers' Association (CFMTA) with 30 years teaching experience. I have guided students to consistent success in Royal Conservatory of music (RCM) examinations, achieving a 100% pass rate with many earning First Class Honours with Distinction. My students have also received top awards in local festival and piano competitions.
Beyond accomplishments, I believe piano study is a lifelong journey of growth. Through structured training and artistic exploration, I help students build discipline - nurturing not only skilled pianists, but thoughtful and resilient individuals.
Music education is not only my profession - it is my lifelong calling.
Philosophy
Music is an art that touches the depth of life, not a skill to be rushed or acquired in a short time. True musical learning is a path that requires time, patience, and deep personal commitment.
In this process, students develop a keen sensitivity to sound, approaching the score with care and precision. By understanding the composer’s ideas and historical context, they engage in thoughtful reflection, aligning mind and body to create authentic expression. Music training is not just about technique; it shapes the character.
Through daily practice and dedication, students build resilience, clear logic, and sincere emotional expression. Their artistic refinement and aesthetic awareness grow steadily along this journey.
I honor each student’s individuality and learning pace. By crafting personalized plans that align with their unique strengths, I guide them to fully uncover their potential. My goal is not just to achieve short-term success, but to ensure that music becomes a lifelong companion, offering them strength and inspiration throughout their lives.
